DeafVP.com Directory
Hello all...Things are going great here in Kentucky, learning by leaps and bounds as I play around with my new VP-200.  One of the things that I was informed of today by the installer, that I had not been made aware of before, was a really nice on-line directory for users of the Videophones.

The directory can be located at www.deafVP.com, and you can simply create an account there and control the parameters of who can search for your videophone number or other personal information, even setting parameters for times calls should not be made before or after, asking people to contact you first (via messenger, AIM, etc.) before being able to access your VP number, and so on.

Extremely neat, and I have to say, this is a very user-friendly service.  I want to make clear, I'm not receiving any benefit for discussing this service, either monetary or in terms of better services, etc.  This is simply being posted by me for the benefit of others like me who may not be aware that this service exists on the internet.

As for the VP-200 itself, I have been very pleasantly surprised thusfar, with the quality of video feed, the features, and so on.  I'm not sure of the other videophone capabilities out there, but this one has far exceeded (thusfar) my expectations.  Now I'm off again to continue learning more about this world of videophoning that I had been pretty ambivalent towards before.

I have warned people in previous posts, that I wil delete non-productive comments to the slag heap. Someone posted approximately 35 minutes ago, a comment that has now been deleted. I won't accept flamers or derogatory comments on my blogs. If you have something productive to add, by all means do so.

Comments such as "that sucks" or "this sucks", etc. WILL be deleted if that is the entire gist of the comment, as this one was. I also log IP addresses, so rest assured, I can and will ban those who do not listen to me on my blog. These things are written for anyone and everyone to read, and are meant to be helpful (or I hope they are), informative, and an expression of my thoughts or opinions on something. If you have nothing civil to add, or can't express your disagreements in vernacular above that of a 4th grader, or in a civil manner, move on along.

That SUCKS! That SUCKS! That SUCKS! That SUCKS!

That SUCKS that there are people out there who are so pathetic and devoid of meaningful things to say that they need to leave childish comments on a blog that's dedicted towards INTELLIGENT discourse of the issues facing our community today.

I also own the VP-200 and while I understand that there are "haters" out there, I have to say that I have had no problems and few complaints with the service. Sometimes it takes the interpreter a bit longer than I'd like to become available but it's still LIGHT YEARS ahead of relay. Technology regarding accessibility has grown by leaps and bounds. I personally cannot wait to see what's next.

Now see, this comment had something intelligent to say, so I'm allowing it...

Seriously, Surduspub hit the nail on the head. I understand there are "haters" out there, and have no problem with them telling me WHY they hate it. "VP200 sucks" ain't gonna tell me why, it's just a childish, boorish waste of good oxygen.

Re: Comments
I do not like Deafvp.com because of harassments. I got more than 50 calls from strangers that found the number via the deafvp.com soon after I approved -- it was a mistake. I removed it immediately ... and today, I still have to deal with these obnoxious calls.

Deafvp.com sucks majorly.

I understand your concerns, however, they DO have an option that allows you to screen for that. You have to check the box that says you must be contacted first via email, pager, AIM, etc. before your number can be given out. Once you check that box, anyone that wants the number has to fill out a request, the request will then be sent to you directly from DeafVP.com It is then up to you to approve or deny the person's request for your number. If you follow this option, it should cut down dramatically on those unwanted calls.

Let me know if I need to assist you or clarify anything I said here. I'm not aware of how long this option has been available to users of DeafVP.com, but I do know it is available now.

Thanks for reading and commenting!
