Second Captioned Movie Access Bill Introduced in Kentucky!
Hello All:

A companion bill to Senate Bill 102 in Kentucky has been introduced in the House by State Representative Leslie Combs.  It is House Bill #439.  Kentucky residents and other supporters can email legislators to ask that these bills be supported by going to this link:

http://www.lrc.ky.gov/whoswho/county.htm

Once there, you can simply scroll down to the county where you live, and find your legislator's names.  By clicking on their names, you can then go to their bio page, where either their email address is listed on the left side of the page, or a link is there that allows you to fill out a form letter that goes to them.  Kentucky is attempting to lead the way in more access to captioned movies in the state for the deaf and hard of hearing, but your input is needed to help these bills get a hearing.  The Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (KCDHH) has done a fantastic job helping to get support for these bills, and have already gotten promises of support from numerous lawmakers.  So we really need people to continue emailing, calling, or writing these legislators and let them know we want these bills to have hearings and get to the floor of each chamber (House and Senate) for a vote.

Just yesterday, there was a large rally of the 874 Coalition at the State Capitol (874 references the total number of Kentuckians with some type of disability, 874,000), so issues that affect the disabled community are at the forefront of many legislator's minds right now, and now is a good time to be touching base with these legislators.

Thanks,
Eddie
